Press Release: Chameleon Group of Companiesby Rhonda Jones on 18/08/2010 On the southern outskirts of Rockhampton, rising out of the ground, is a factory that represents years in the planning and responsible for quite a number of firsts. There is world first technology built into the modular concrete buildings that the company produces. The erection of the first solar / wind powered street lighting for Australia, are proving their worth with security and car park lighting on the site at night.Chameleon Group of Companies has designed and developed an alternative method of constructing buildings using steel moulds to manufacture modular concrete panels. This results in a building constructed using lightweight concrete roof panels with inter-locking wall panels containing gutters and down pipes built into the wall panel. The simple construction method using the moulds, a mobile batching plant and a crane allows for the training of local unskilled workers to carry out the majority of the work and does not require a large labour force. This construction method is ideal for housing, park shelters and toilet blocks, storage sheds, stables, motel units and any number of uses. There are a lot of pre fabricated building solutions on the market at present but there are none that can claim such a wide range of benefits including low maintenance, a much longer life-cycle and improved insulation and noise reduction. The building will be cool in summer, warm in winter, will withstand strong winds, termites and fire and is virtually indestructible. Chemicals can be added to the concrete to prevent salt absorption which causes concrete cancer making it ideal for marine and seaside environments. To date the company has completed a shade structure for the Glenmore High School, a stable complex and caretakers house for Jarrod and Kisten Price of Glendale together with a three bedroom home and a patio module. The company is currently constructing two office complexes. “We are more than impressed with our stables, the horses are comfortable, the stables are spacious and there is nothing for them to get caught on or hurt themselves with. The caretakers house is still being fitted out but we are pleased with the results so far – both have exceeded our expectations” Jarrod & Kisten Price |
