Alternatives to the traditional house……..

The Chameleon Group is a small company committed to improving the sustainability, affordability and durability of homes and has endeavoured to ensure that their homes have general aesthetic and architectural appeal. The modular concrete panels give the customer the flexibility to expand and add a cost effective second storey to their home.

This two storey option would also be beneficial in known flood or cyclone risk areas – houses could be built with knowledge that the ground floor could or would be flooded, so when the time came, allow the water to pass through and once this has receded, hose down, bring the furniture back from upstairs and start living in it again. No need to replace walls.

The durability of a building of this style would meet the criteria currently being sought by the Insurance Council of Australia. Flood affected residents are back into their own homes much faster and not needing to depend on temporary housing.

In an endeavour to appeal to a wider audience and allow for some flexibility in the design a traditional timber and colorbond roof option has been included in the range.  This increases the cost overall of the build to just below that of a traditional house because of the requirement of plumbers to instal the roof however it is an option for those who may not like or desire the concrete roof.
